As the saying goes “happy mum, happy household”
As women we want to help, we take on too much, say yes to everything. It’s almost like that’s how we are programmed. We are always so busy looking after everyone else first……our kids, husband/partner, house, friends and family that we don’t take care of ourselves. Life gets so busy with helping everyone else, working and maintaining a household. We ignore that little voice in our head saying take 5 mins for yourself and carry on with our busy life. Does this sound familiar?
After talking with a few friends this past week, this couldn’t be truer.
We need to take care of ourselves in order to take care of others. This is one area I must admit I’m not great at doing either!
When we are happy, feeling ourselves, when everything is aligned within our bodies, everything flows. Our kids/ babies pick up & feed on our energy. When we aren’t happy, neither are they.
You can’t help everyone else if you’re unwell, feeling sad or a yelling raving crazy person. When you’re not right, the energy doesn’t flow within us, we become unbalanced and you will start to feel sad, overwhelmed, grumpy, unhappy, tired, emotional, depressed, stress, anxious, you can become unwell & get run down.
From personal experience when I lose my shit, get frustrated, or I’m stressed there is no way our baby is going to sleep. I need to step back, go calm down, breath in some Essential Oils and then go and try calm bubba down. You need to take care of yourself, to be able to help others.
Many of us women forget this and we don’t take time out for ourselves. A friend told me the other day that “Even the strongest person needs help sometimes” this is so true!
- You’re happiness, starts with you!
- There are some great tools available for us, many of you will already know some of these but I’m going to remind you anyway.
- Take time out for yourself EVERY DAY even if it’s just 5 minutes.
- Read a book or in my case watch Netflix.
- Exercise, go for a walk, run, yoga whatever you enjoy. Fresh air is good for the soul.
- Use your Essential Oils (I’m going to talk more on this soon).
- Balance & clear your Chakra’s.
- Take a multi-vitamin, I use the Life Long Vitality pack from doTERRA. Taking care of the inside, is just as important.
- Eat a healthy well-balanced diet.
- Drink lots of water.
- Get more sleep (this is one I’m not very good at) when we are tired everything seems worse!
- Have sex, yes that’s right go find your partners & have some quality alone time! Believe it or not sex actually reduces anxiety and boosts your overall health.
- If you have a situation playing on your mind, go deal with it, talk to that person, tell them how you are feeling or let it go! Bottling things up, doesn’t help anyone. They find a way of coming out & sometimes it’s not in the best manner.
- Ask for help! There is nothing wrong with putting your hand up & saying hey, I need some help & support here! It’s actually brave.
- Learn to say no, if too much is going on at the moment for you. It’s ok to say no, let that person know that right now just isn’t a good time.
- Talk to someone, girlfriend, partner, mum, professional. Doesn’t matter who, sometimes we just need to let it all out to be able to let it go & move on.
- Cry, let it all out….. Scream, into a pillow if you need too. It’s actually quite liberating! Sometimes it’s just what we need.
- Start a journal, write your feelings down. Recently I was faced with a stressful, emotional situation. I wrote everything down, how I was feeling in a letter. From there I was able to release all the anger & let it go!
- My final strategy, tapping (EFT). If you don’t know what it is, google Brad Yates tapping. He is my fav, great website and lots of free video’s on YouTube.
Putting yourself first, isn’t selfish.
